The term is short for electromagnetic smog – smog being itself a short term for “smoky fog” – air pollution. The word smog was created to describe lasting air pollution that is a permanent hazard in today’s overpopulated urban areas. Smog is visible, smells bad and leads to all sorts of health issues – as everybody knows.
Electrosmog is a very similar
and at least as hasardous pollution with
one great difference. We are unable to notice it. Our bodies do not
have any senses to warn us. Electrosmog is invisible and
doesn’t smell. We cannot feel its presence. We
therefore tend to believe it doesn’t exist despite the fact
that it has dramatic impact on our health and despite the fact that it
affects every
living being and every matter on the planet.Electrosmog is the name for the immense invisible, untouchable hidden chaos of man made electromagnetic pollution produced wherever electricity is used and wherever wireless and bluethooth networks and devices are operational.
Wireless communication requires electromagnetic microwave radiation to carry data, image and voice signals. Of all the wireless energy produced not even one percent of it is received by any device or any antenna; the rest is uselessly broadcasted into the environment. Your cell phone radiates in all directions. Its microwave signal travels through air, walls, people, animals and plants and of course through your own body. Only a fraction of its total transmitting energy would be needed to reach the nearest antenna on a straight line. All the rest is immense and dangerous energetic pollution.
Whenever an electric current flows through a wire, electromagnetic low frequency radiation is produced. In addition, almost every electric device contains also a transformer and an electric motor producing still more unavoidable electromagnetic radiation. 100% of it is not operationally needed and is a total waste.
Electromagnetic radiation is pure energy. It affects any matter it hits and – depending on wave length – penetrates. If a signal can travel through walls, it also will travel through your body - thereby doing something to it. It’s quite a dangerous fire we are playing with ignorantly because we do not see, feel, smell, hear or sense it. All that useless man made radiation we are drowning ourselves in is what we call electrosmog.

The human brain produces electromagnetic radiation in frequencies between about 4 and at least 75 Hz. An EEG can record part of this radiation. Our electrical AC systems operate at a range of 50 to 60 Hz producing electromagnetic radiation, too. This corresponds to the frequency range of our brain. Low frequency radiation produced by our AC power systems must interfere with our brain waves.
Everybody knows that living under a high voltage power line is not very healthy. Low frequency radiation, however, is low energy and doesn’t affect us over large distance. It is therefor a much lesser health risk than microwave pollution. Still, sleeping regularly with your head closer than 3 feet to a wall outlet or an unshielded power line inside the wall is not a very good idea.
Electromagnetic radiation in the microwave range, however is an entirely different story … Microwaves are chosen to carry signals because their short wavelength and high energy allows them to travel through matter and walls. This allows for wireless communication within buildings, cars and with space devices. On the other hand, these high-energy waves also easily travel through skin, muscles, bones and bodies, affecting everything they meet on their way. And – as we know well – they heat up water molecules by exciting their vibration everywhere they meet them, not only inside the microwave oven.
Here are a few scientific findings of what electrosmog can do to living beings:
Tomato plants start to produce a stress-enzyme as soon as an operating cell phone is placed near them.
In the late 30ies and during World War 2, the Nazis have experimented with electromagnetic radiation. They were able to change moods of people, forcing them to become aggressive or depressive, depending on the frequencies used. These techniques have certainly been secretly but extensively elaborated and refined by military institutions worldwide for obvious reasons.

Red blood cells become clogged, inefficient, oxygen transport is hampered and the immune system is weakened. A scientific report has shown that in Canada brain tumor in the age group of 12 to 16 year old adolecents has increased by 500% during the last 10 years, parallel to the daramtically increased use of cell phones and wireles divices by this age group and in this period. |

Several independent studies have demonstrated that the brain blood barrier is weakened by microwaves and becomes ineffective. Thus, dangerous proteins and other hasardous substances are allowed into the brain and might cause infections and brain damage.
The short wavelength of microwaves fits in-between the atomic structures of complex molecules. The high energy of microwaves can cause them to brake apart. Particularly vulnerable are complex molecules and proteins such as DNA. Damaged DNA is a very serious health risk.

Since about a decade, a new health issue has been rapidly spreading. It is called EHS – electromagnetic hypersensitivity. Affected persons suffer from headaches, migraines, nauseas, vision problems, severe lack of energy etc. Swedish statistics show that up to 5% of the population is affected to a degree that a normal life is no longer possible (no statistics available regarding North America). No cures are known so far, except staying away from electrosmog.
Why is there nobody doing anything about it?
The reasons are quite numerous. First, governments and industry are tangled up in enormous conflicts of interest. Budgets, national finances, economy, shareholder values and a great number of jobs are at stake. That’s why hardly any funds flow into research on electrosmog and scientific warnings are often kept secret and are supressed. Plus, it’s neither the duty of governments nor of the wireless industry to care for your own personal health.
Second, medical science is at a loss; the human body is incredibly complex. The reasons for illnesses can hardly ever be traced to a singular cause and electrosmog is a very recent new pollutant. Electrosmog is still practically unknown and it is not taught at medical schools up to today.
